My Online Marketing Funnel: An Overview
Since I’m still building all the components, most of these are not done yet.
This diagram shows how I am planning to build my online marketing funnel. The main components are:
- WordPress Blog
- Social Media Accounts
- Email List
- Shopify Store
- Etsy Shop
- Revenue Sources: Digital Product Sales, Affiliate Marketing, and Advertising
Each of these components plays a vital role in my overall strategy.
They interact in ways that drive traffic, capture leads, and convert those leads into paying customers.

Why This Funnel?
This is the way I want to build it because I’m familiar with this system. I’ve done something similar in the past, and it worked well for me.
I’m not a guru – just someone sharing what works for me and my ongoing journey, including the inevitable failures (because there will be some of those too).
If you’re interested in watching me grow this new business month by month, I’d really appreciate any follows on my platforms.
WordPress Blog: The Heartbeat of the Funnel
To build a successful online business, I am centering my efforts around my WordPress blog.
This is the primary platform for creating valuable content for my target audience and attracting organic traffic from search engines like Google.
Driving Traffic to My Blog
To drive traffic to my WordPress blog, I am implementing several strategies:
High-Quality Content Creation: My goal is to consistently publish high-quality, valuable content that addresses the needs and interests of my target audience. This helps attract organic visitors from search engines.
Search Engine Optimization (SEO): By optimizing my blog posts with relevant keywords, meta descriptions, and internal links, I will improve my blog’s visibility on search engines, attracting more organic traffic.
Social Media Promotion: My goal is to actively promote my blog posts on my social media accounts, driving traffic from my social media followers to my blog.
Email Marketing: I will leverage my email list to drive traffic to my blog. By sending out regular newsletters and updates featuring my latest blog posts, I encourage my subscribers to visit and engage with my content.
Paid Advertising: To further increase traffic, I will use paid advertising, including Google Ads and social media ads, to attract my ideal audience to my blog.
Leveraging Blog Traffic
Once visitors arrive at my blog, I will implement several strategies to maximize the value of this traffic:
Building an Email List: I will offer valuable freebies (lead magnets) such as checklists, e-books, and exclusive guides in exchange for visitors’ email addresses, converting them into email subscribers.
Promoting Social Media: I will include links to my social media profiles within my blog posts and on my blog’s sidebar, encouraging visitors to follow me on platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, TikTok, and YouTube.
Driving Product Sales: I will promote my digital products available in my Shopify store and Etsy shop through blog posts, providing direct links to these products to drive traffic and increase sales.
Affiliate Marketing and Advertising: My blog will generate revenue through affiliate marketing by promoting other companies’ products and services, and by displaying ads for passive income.
Social Media Accounts: Building a Tribe
To promote my online business, I am setting up accounts on Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, TikTok, and YouTube. The goal is to build a community of followers on each platform.
Driving Traffic to My Social Media Accounts
To drive traffic to my social media accounts, I am implementing several strategies:
Blog Integration: I feature links to my social media profiles on my blog’s homepage, sidebar, and within my blog posts, encouraging blog visitors to follow me on social media.
Content Sharing: My goal is to share my blog posts and other valuable content on my social media accounts. Engaging posts, stories, and updates prompt my social media followers to visit my blog and explore more content.
Email Marketing: In my email newsletters, I include links to my social media profiles, encouraging my subscribers to follow me for additional tips, updates, and behind-the-scenes content.
Cross-Promotion: My goal is to cross-promote my social media accounts by sharing content from one platform on another, such as sharing Instagram posts on Facebook or pinning blog posts on Pinterest.
Paid Advertising: Eventually I use paid advertising on platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok to boost my social media presence and attract new followers.
Leveraging Traffic to My Social Media Accounts
Once visitors arrive at my social media accounts, I will use various strategies to maximize their engagement and drive further actions:
Driving Traffic to My Blog and Stores: I will share valuable content and product updates that include links to my blog and online stores, encouraging followers to read more and explore my products.
Engaging the Audience: My goal is to engage with my followers by responding to comments, participating in discussions, and sharing behind-the-scenes content. This interaction helps build a loyal community.
Promoting Email Sign-Ups: I will regularly promote my email sign-up form on social media, offering freebies to encourage followers to subscribe. This helps capture leads and grow my email list.
Capturing Leads with an Email List
Building an email list is one of the best things I can do for my business. This is MY list—I own it, unlike social media accounts where I’m at the mercy of platform algorithms.
Driving Traffic to My Email Sign-Up
To drive traffic to my email sign-up form, I will be implementing several strategies:
Blog Integration: I will feature email sign-up forms prominently on my blog’s homepage, sidebar, and within my blog posts, encouraging visitors to subscribe.
Social Media Promotion: I will regularly promote my email sign-up form on my social media accounts, offering freebies to encourage followers to subscribe.
Lead Magnets: I will create and offer valuable lead magnets, such as e-books, checklists, and templates, to entice visitors to subscribe to my email list.
Paid Advertising: I will use paid advertising to promote my email sign-up form, targeting my ideal audience with enticing offers.
Leveraging My Email List
Once I capture leads through my email sign-up form, I will implement several strategies to maximize the value of my email list:
Engaging with Subscribers: I will create an email sequence to deliver valuable content and promotions. This includes a welcome series, educational content, product updates, and special offers.
Promoting Products: I will use the email list to promote my digital products. Regular emails highlight new products, special discounts, and limited-time offers.
Driving Traffic to My Blog and Social Media: Each email will include links to my recent blog posts, social media profiles, and product pages, driving traffic back to these platforms.
Building Relationships: I will foster a strong relationship with my subscribers by providing valuable content, addressing their needs, and responding to their feedback.
Shopify Store and Etsy Shop: My Digital Product Showcases
To sell my digital products, I am setting up a Shopify store and an Etsy shop. These platforms help me reach a wider audience and facilitate sales.
Driving Traffic to My Stores
To drive traffic to my Shopify store and Etsy shop, I will be implementing several strategies:
Blog Promotion: I will promote my products through blog posts, providing direct links to my Shopify store and Etsy shop.
Social Media Promotion: I will share product updates and promotions on my social media accounts, directing followers to my stores.
Email Marketing: I will use my email list to promote my products, highlighting new arrivals, special discounts, and limited-time offers.
Paid Advertising: I will use paid advertising to promote my stores, targeting potential customers interested in my products.
Leveraging Store Traffic
Once visitors arrive at my Shopify store and Etsy shop, I will implement several strategies to maximize sales:
Product Descriptions and Images: I will create compelling product descriptions and use high-quality images to showcase my products and attract buyers.
Customer Reviews and Testimonials: I will encourage satisfied customers to leave reviews and testimonials, building trust and credibility.
Promotional Offers: I will offer special promotions and discounts to entice visitors to make a purchase.
Abandoned Cart Emails: I will send abandoned cart emails to remind visitors of the products they were interested in and encourage them to complete their purchase.
Generating Revenue
I will use my blog and my Shopify and Etsy stores to generate revenue through various methods.
Here’s a detailed explanation of how each platform contributes to my income:
How My Blog Makes Me Money
My blog generates revenue through digital product sales, affiliate marketing, and advertising.
- Digital Product Sales: I will create and sell digital goods such as e-books, templates, planners, and other resources. These products are highly scalable and have minimal overhead costs, making them ideal for generating passive income.
- Affiliate Marketing: I will earn commissions by promoting other companies’ products and services through my blog. By incorporating affiliate links within my content, such as in product reviews and recommendations, I will receive a commission for any sales made through those links.
- Advertising: As my blog traffic grows, I will display ads through ad networks or direct partnerships, generating additional passive income. The more visitors my blog attracts, the higher the potential ad revenue.
How Shopify and Etsy Make Me Money
My Shopify store and Etsy shop will make me money by providing platforms to sell my digital products directly to customers.
- Product Sales: These platforms enable me to list, promote, and sell digital products such as e-books, templates, and planners. Each sale generates direct revenue, leveraging Shopify and Etsy’s user-friendly interfaces and extensive customer bases.
- Marketing Tools: Both Shopify and Etsy offer built-in marketing tools that help me reach a wider audience. For example, Etsy’s internal search engine and promotional features allow me to attract organic traffic and increase sales. Shopify’s integration with various marketing apps helps streamline promotions and sales efforts.
- Cross-Promotion: I will drive traffic to my Shopify and Etsy stores by promoting products through my blog, social media accounts, and email newsletters. This multi-channel approach ensures that my products reach a broader audience, maximizing sales opportunities.
Why These Revenue Streams?
Digital Products: They are easy to create and distribute, and once developed, they can be sold repeatedly without additional costs. The scalability of digital products makes them a sustainable source of passive income.
Affiliate Marketing: This is a low-risk way to earn money by promoting products that I believe in. It requires minimal upfront investment and can be highly lucrative as my blog traffic grows.
Advertising: By leveraging ad networks or direct partnerships, I can generate passive income as my blog traffic increases. Ads provide an additional revenue stream without requiring product creation or direct sales.
Product Sales on Shopify and Etsy: These platforms provide robust tools and established audiences, helping me efficiently sell digital products. The direct revenue from product sales, combined with the marketing capabilities of Shopify and Etsy, ensures a steady income stream.
By integrating these strategies, I create a diverse and sustainable revenue model that leverages the strengths of my blog, social media, email list, and online stores.
Putting It All Together
All these components work together seamlessly to drive traffic, capture leads, and generate sales.
Here’s how it all comes together:
Social Media: Engages potential customers and drives them to my blog and stores. For example, a Pinterest pin can lead directly to a relevant blog post, which then offers a freebie in exchange for an email sign-up.
Blog: Serves as the central hub where content is created to attract traffic. It also acts as a launchpad for other components of the business by capturing emails and promoting products.
Email List: Continuously nurtures the relationship with potential customers, promotes products, and drives traffic back to the blog and stores. Email marketing can effectively convert interested subscribers into paying customers.
Shopify & Etsy Stores: These platforms facilitate the sale of digital products. Links from blog posts, social media, and emails drive traffic here, resulting in purchases.
Revenue Streams: Digital product sales provide direct income, while affiliate marketing and ads offer additional revenue without the need for product creation.
To succeed in an online business, start with a strong foundation. Focus on building your blog, capturing emails, and driving traffic. Remember, a blog is not just a tool for sharing content; it’s the cornerstone of your online marketing strategy.
